Public information records requests to the Sheriff's Office must be submitted in writing using the Public Information Request Form. The Sheriff's Office will evaluate each request on an individual basis and in accordance with the Vermont Access to Public Records Act; Title 1, Chapter 5, Subchapter 3 of the Vermont Statues Annotated. The statute also includes specific exemptions for records from public inspection; set forth in 1 V.S.A. § 317.
The fees for police records are set forth by 20 V.S.A. § 1815. If there are additional costs associated with the requests for extracting and compiling records, as set forth by the Vermont Secretary of State, we will contact you to discuss. Payment will be returned for reports which are not released.
Completed Public Information Request Forms can be mailed, or hand delivered to the Office at 387 Lake Street, St. Albans, VT 05478 or you can email them to fcso@fcsovt.com.
